Turkey Gyro Wraps with Lettuce, Tomato, Tzatziki & Pita Chips
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- 4 cups chopped romaine or leaf lettuce
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 cup tzatziki (store-bought or homemade)
- 4 oz pita chips (about 3–4 cups, depending on size)
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta (optional, for topping)
- 4 pita breads (or 4 large flatbreads)
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and the onion; cook 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook 30 seconds. Add ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook 8–10 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Stir in oregano, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, and parsley. Cook 1–2 minutes to blend flavors. Remove from heat.
- Warm pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave (about 15–30 seconds) until pliable.
- Assemble each wrap: spread 2–3 tbsp tzatziki in the pita, add a scoop of turkey filling, then layer lettuce and diced tomato. Sprinkle feta if using.
- Add a handful of pita chips on top right before eating (or keep chips on the side for maximum crunch). Fold and serve. Repeat for all 4 servings.
Cooking tips
- Use a nonstick skillet and spread the turkey into a thin layer so it browns instead of steams. - If your tzatziki seems watery, drain the grated cucumber in a paper towel for 5–10 minutes before mixing. - Warm pita chips briefly (or toast them) to keep a crunchy texture once assembled. - Slice the turkey gyro filling against the grain if it’s slightly firm—this improves tenderness in wraps.
